New collaboration with the Department of Children and Youth Affairs on criminal networks

Dr Thomas Grund from the School of Sociology is now scientific consultant for the Department of Children and Youth Affairs on a research project about "the influence of criminal networks on children’s offending behaviour in Ireland". More about this research on criminal networks in Ireland conducted by Dr Redmond and previous findings here.

Dr Amanda Slevin gets job at NUIG

Dr Amanda Slevin - who completed her doctorate with us here in UCD School of Sociology, and has been working on the Generation What? project, which should be aired on RTÉ2 later in the year – has been appointed to a lecturing position in the School of Political Science and Sociology at NUI Galway. Congratulations Amanda!

RTE shooting on campus with former students

RTE was shooting on campus yesterday for the documentary "Generation What?", which is scientifically accompanied by several members of the School of Sociology at UCD. The documentary is about the young generation in Ireland, their values, ideals and aims in life. Our former students Kevin Myers and Amanda Slevin will present the sociological findings from interviews and a larger survey carried out in 2016.
